I made this wallpaper because I loved the idea of making shadow puppets.

I remember playing happily with nothing but my tiny hands and an illicit torch after lights out.

There is something magical about being able to conjure an elephant or an eagle from light and shadows.

So I wasn’t entirely surprised when the Philedelphia Museum of Art chose 'Hand Made' from all our other wallpaper designs to have in their Design for the Modern Child exhibit.

Much play in the 21st century centres on controlling a ready-made character on an electronic screen, but with hand-shadows children can create something entirely with their own bodies and out of their own imaginations.

Look how happy these children are to play with their hands.

Research is increasingly showing how engaging with our bodies and not just our minds improves learning and creativity as well as safeguarding mental well-being.

How great is it to use hands for something other than screens and keyboards?
